Mumbai Marathon 2010

Co-ordinating and reaching from our respective homes to CST station on the 17th morning and finding each other amidst more than 20,000 people was itself like completing our marathon!

We were all very excited. The local trains in Mumbai had companions from all over who were moving to the same direction for the same cause. It seemed like a huge mega picnic for Mumbai city!

We all greeted each other in our sportive attires! Sabitra Kundu, our colleague who was all set to cheer us got a last moment entry into the marathon on the ticket of a lady who was supposed to fly down from Gujarat to be part of the big race but couldn’t make it. Our team mate Ms. Mariamma Jose could not be part of the marathon due to her back sprain.

We had our partner hospital representatives (KBHB Eye Hospital) ; Mr. Shrinivas Sawant our South Area Director along with his son; John D ‘Souza and Shweta Chooramani family members all present to cheer us!!!
There was a massive crowd at Azad Maidan and we were about to start our race at 9.30 am. We all were wondering where our full marathon runners (Katrina& Jennifer) must have reached by now as they had started their race very early in the morning and would have been experiencing strong heat that time!

Summing up the entire 7 kms journey with those highly spirited thousands of like minded people seems impossible! People cheering loud their teams, slogans with different messeges, dance and music on our way, smiles and laughter everywhere; not to forget some inspirational runners who managed to complete the race inspite of being differently challenged!!!! It was just awesome!

Congratulations to the entire Sightsavers team and hat’s off to Katrina and Jennifer to complete the full race!!!!

Also here seen in the pics is Celeb John Abraham visiting the Seeing is Believing stall at the Expo and going through the blind fold exercise, wishing Kat and Jennifer all the luck and signing my special MEC book!

A very warm thank you Standarad Chartered Bank especially Ms. Pratima Harite & Ms. Karuna Bhatia for all your support and help!
